The collection was based on a girl who was born with scoliosis. At a young age, she had to wear a rigid spinal brace which made her feel isolated from society and yearned to break free from it. As she grew older and accepted that everyone was unique, she did not wish to change her appearance to fit the social standard of being "perfect" and "beautiful". The collection explores the sense of freedom as she breaks free from the physical and psychological constraints of the brace. The collection started off by collecting a variety of spinal braces which were mainly made of elastic bands, molded plastics, and adjustable strapes. The creator studied them thoroughly, deconstructed them, and started reconstructing different items of clothings. Instead of using traditional patternmaking, the collection was fully made of elastic bands directly on the forms to create sculptural shapes.

Seiju Toda is a Japanese photographer who expresses the art of human X-ray through photography. Based on his photos, I dissected and traced the shapes. I applied lasercut technique on fabrics as it signified cutting through of negative charges of the past. I collected a variety of spinal braces which were mainly made of elastic bands, molded plastics, and adjustable strapes. I studied them thoroughly, deconstructed them, and started reconstructing different items of clothings. Instead of using traditional patternmaking, I draped the elastic bands directly on the forms to create sculptural shapes. To further develop the designs, I cut apart the X-ray photos and collarged them with the draping photos.
